Post URL Freeroll Strategy (Article II) Posted: Fri Feb 18, 2005 11:31 pm

Here is my general freeroll strategy.  First level of the tournament I'll play almost anything if only the cost of the BB.  At the start I never slow play good starting hands, jj,qq,kk,aa, I always raise big.  Alot of freerollers will play anything on any raise so no sense in slow playing.

After the first few rounds I tighten up play.  Playing more premium hands, I'll play a little loose if on the button.  By now most the alliner's should be gone and play usually starts to tighten up all around.

Through the end I keep tightening up, hope to take down a few big pots and win the tourney  Very Happy

See you at the tables.

I am a agressive player early on try to double up fast then i sit back and play hands accordingly and i ussualy dont like to slowplay cuz ppl in freerolls just dont seem to have common sence and will call a raise with a 72

The poker host 96 will go down in history as the Clint Eastwood of poker tourneys. Or sould I say "well punk do ya feel lucky? well do ya punk? lol cause everyone is going all in all the time with nothing and if you got great cards and lose it sucks and if I go in with chitty cards then I suck because I dumber than he is..lol. omg I have never never seen such luck course I don't have it but... I will keep playing and who knows maybe lady luck will shine yet today...but I have too try....

aj

yes that is a good stratgy.

just sometimes if play weaker cards early

it is easy to get raised. so if there is

a lot of raising i like to wait and play looser

in later position.

You have got to play agressive in freerolls. You didnt pay any money, so why not take a few chances. If you get up big early, you can never look back. PLAY AGRESSIVE. Go all in early on AA, AK, AQ, KK.

I agree that you should play the top hands extremely aggressively, but in the early stages of a tournament it doesnt make any sense to waste chips seeing every flop when the blinds are so low compared to the average stack. Low blinds and high stacks dictate passive play. Early on my preflop strategy is to
shove all in, limp, or fold, and i only limp with hands with high expectation value like suited connectors or small pocket pairs.

thecardcheat,

yes i too like to go all in early with

aa kk. however not with ak, aq.

only later when stack is low or if i´m very

willing to get out of the game.

best,

donvic

The idiots are always around at the start. I let them go at each other for awhile. Then I push them around and eliminate them. If I get a big starting hand, I won't slow play it, but I will also make good money off of it, otherwise it was worthless.
