Just a general question for everyone.  How do you play AK preflop in regards to these types of games.  Loose and Tight.

AK gets cracked all the time, it sucks. so, you need to raise prefloop with it, get any questionable handsout. if u do this you'll have much more luck and won't get burned as much.

At a tight table it's a good for a raise.  Three or four time the BB in the middle stages of a tournament.  In the late stages of a tournament, raise enough to steal the blinds and limpers.

At a loose game, ie freeroll,  limp in or all-in.

preflop AK in freerolls.....I usually limp in because 80 percent of the time someone else is going to raise for you....when they do...then I hit the lovely all in button and pray it's not one of the ap specials ak vs aa.

yes i agree.....3 times the big blind is about the right amount preflop....that way you can judge the strength of the others at the table with commiting your entire stack and running into a mid or high pp....a lot of ppl have this problem in freerolls puttin thier entire stacks at risk with painted cards.....when in reality itll only win maybe 50 percent of the time!!!

Big slick you gotta raise preflop unless a good raise has already been made. Watch out in freerolls though. All too often you find players that will call anything, and most bad beats happen when you're playing against bad players. raise but avoid going all in untill you see some more cards.

I think alot of people over play big slick..  especially when it comes to getting reraised..  alot of times when playing big slick you can be playing against pockets and hit nothing..  i've seen it happen sooo many times just today on pokerstars... but that is pokerstars were talking bout. ... riverstars at its best.

Ak should only be a raise pre-flop.  But enough of a raise to isolate to one or two players.  All in with AK is not a smart move; it's not even a pair yet pre-flop.

AK is a very good hand but.....as you all know ,you have to be very carefull on the preflop. You have to be patient even with that kind of hand!!! Wink
