Try any site where you can play lots of freerolls, its not maybe the best place to learn the game, but you can get some sense and feeling for it!
Absolute poker has lots of freerolls, but there are lots of maniacs there, if you can manage to survive first break you can start with poker then! _________________ Of course we gotta pay rent, so money connects, but
I'd rather be broke and have a whole lot of respect

Absolute worked for me

I started off 'learning' hold 'em at party poker and all I learned is that no one actually plays the game unless it is for real money. Absolute has many daily freerolls and although they are free to join, people will actually play a bit better than play money tables because the is a real prize at stake. otherwise I'd say to play limit if you are going to stick to play chips. the bettin can actually reflect the hands in that.

Not for many freerolls but the level of play there is somewhat higher since it is all mainly real $$$. I did want to say 1 good thing about learning on party poker was that the play money tables there tell you your hand status as it unfolds. (so you won't miss that straight you might not notice as a new player)
AP's playmoney tables do as well

I believe any site that allows you to play for fun is a great way to start. I started out at party poker and then moved to play other sites such as full tilt and absolute poker. After you play a few other sites, you will find a site that suits your style.

I agree, any site that you can play for free is a good one. After all if you are just starting you want to get experience in the game and after you get the hang of it try a few small buy ins and see how much different people play than freerolls and also increase your knowledge of the game.

any site is good if you pay attention. use the play money tables to see tons of hands and how they play out ect. once you build a little bit of a play money "bankroll", move up to the higher stakes tables to see how real people play the game learn the common styles of online play. then play freerolls. Once you make the payout do it again. Then forget everything you think you know because you're only getting started. _________________ kardmonky

IMO, don't bother with play money poker. The difference betwwen that and freerolls isn't great, and freerolls give you some chance to win a bit of money - even when you're just starting out, you can sometimes get very lucky.
As for which site to play, it doesn't really matter. Pick one - or a few.

CD Poker is the best for clarity and ease of use and it looks good and plays well.
Poker stars is also excellent. _________________ Mark Daly

abosulute is probably best, because of all the freerolls. But full tilt has some& some nifty avatars.you'll probably want to play some practice with fake money before you start freerolls
