Re-buy Tournament Strategy

First off in a rebuy tourney, regardless of the buy u must be willing to lose a minimum of 6 times the buy in not to mention the fact that it is always good to get a double add-on at the break...Yes it tends to be a headache with all the rebuying but i have had the chips u start with at the break then got a double add-on and i came back and won....Paitence is the key!

egrred patience is the key, but the key is making money with the least possible investment. play tight and let everyone feed into your stack chasing miracles.

well if you invest alot and u get to a good start u can easily when the money u invest back and more, so i suggest for the first hour u play aggressive as possible, also notice that the other players r goingn to play aggressive and go all in with some unusualy cards.

i played a few rebuys and cant stand them. people chase everything under the sun and frustrates me

Rebuys take forever because of the rebuying option. I only play them when the prizes are worth it like at Ap they have the 11K guarenteed or the 16K guarenteed i like those because at least the possibility of winning is worth the tiring amount of time you invest in playing them.

I'm not the biggest fan of re-buy tournaments either. I too tend to stay away from them unless the tournaments are lucrative. I do agree that you're putting yourself at a disadvantage if you don't plan on re-buying early, and also by not adding on at the break. Then again, I've played many of these tournaments where I didn't re-buy or add-on, and have been quite successful with this approach.

i think you should really just play rebuys like you play any other tournament but always ass on when you have the option...unless its a freeroll, then its prolly not worth it

I am not a big fan of them at all. If your at a tight table, you are pretty much eliminated. Other tables will have people willing to re-buy up to 20 times in a hour until they get a decent amount of chips, and if the players who are getting those chips are any good at all, they basically have an unlimited supply of chips for the first 60 minutes.

That's an excellent point. If you go into a re-buy tournament not planning on re-buying more than a couple times (if even that), then this should be your objective. You just try to survive through the first hour, and pick your spots carefully when to be aggressive or not. If you're able to take advantage of your opponents' loose play, then you've in essence re-bought without having to spend any more money. I would even consider sitting out if the table is extremely loose. You can handle one person going all-in against you if you have the goods. Two, three, or four opponents? You're better off avoiding them entirely, and waiting for the re-buy period to end.

I am not a fan of re-buys either. !! In fact i hate them especially when it turns into an ALL IN fest. Players can amass a huge chip stack by getting good cards and some luck. Then when they get to like 8 or 9k in chips it isn,t feasible to keep buying in. It,s best to wait til the break with all the starting chips and buy the 2 add-ons and start playing for real.

I play the odd rebuy but I definitely prefer freezeouts
I play rebuys the way Rambo describes. I usually add on b4 the tourney starts though, and then I pick and choose my spots. A double add on at break, and I am out of the first hour with 4 buyins and looking to catch the fish who cant play a hand without rebuying evey 5 minutes
