Theres only one thing to do with the UNDERATED hand...simple...FOLD IT!!!  If u want to stay alive in the tournament that you are playing in...fold this hand...if u are suited with it and in the dealer position...it is worth a call if the cost is the blind...any other scenarios = fold.

If it is earlier on in the game I would actually play the qj off. Get to the flop and see if you have a chance, then do what you want, but I know personally as well as from others that folding pre-flop has basically killed them.

I totally agree !

Just fold JQos unless you have only one caller in the pot which is a very lose player, then try to steal the pot preflop. You still have many outs if you are called by the loser.

I agree if you are farther in a tournament than this is the right move, chances are someone has you beat so why go into a hand knowing your the underdogg.  Maybe earlier in a tournament if I can pay cheap I'll call it.

i'd call and see a flop. if it's got Qs and Js and you're up against a raise. you can count on them having As and Ks so you will be in the lead. it's worth a cheap call or else you'd only be playing premium hands, which are rare enoguh.

I personally would fold this hand unless I was in the BB or SB and everyone folded to me. If you do hit one of your pairs, you prolly gave someone with a Ak, AQ, or A10 a pretty good chance for a straight. So your good pair cards would be their better straight cards.  Exclamation

I would play it if I'm in late position early in a tournement and nobody has opened into the pot. It's an ok hand if alot of people have folded already. It might increase in value as the tourney moves on.

its one of those hands which can crack someone playing AA.

I've probably hit more straights with QJ than with any other connecting cards.

It all comes down to position, fold it from early position with no doubt, and from late its worth to make a call and check out the flop!

QJ is a bad hand to play in any position other than the blinds and maybe on the button if the blinds are low and you can limp in.

I agree with Fubar that it's a hand you should fold most of the time - another possible exception being when you're playing shorthanded.   And I'd say the hand is over-rated far more often than under-; i.e. people play it more often than they should, not the opposite.

i call with all kinds of unsuited that can go for a straight and even if it's not one of the top ranked pocket hands you can get it is certainly over 60% of other combinations you can get dealt.. i'd call to see the flop anytime unless it's a big raise compared to my stack/bb
