for me,always worth a raise.limit definatley,no limit i would call a raise to 3 or 4 times the bb,just to see the flop.then run if i see a A,K,Q on the board{obviously i might wet my feet with a feeler bet if there was no action}limit i might be inclined to pump them all the way regardless of the board as you get a lot more fishies there,in my opinion.

Always double or triple BB. Depends on how many people to the left of you. You don't want to get anyone cheaply with an ace. If no over card appears than go ALL-IN.

jacks are fun cards to play. everyone hates them, but they can really make you money in the end. i always raise 4-5 the big blind from middle to late position with jacks. I'd call up to that raise preflop when my position suits me i.e. a couple of people and me. Sometimes even re-raise to someone who has to call to big bets cold Evil or Very Mad

It all comes down to how they react to your raise. If they re-raise, and a higher face card comeson the flop, fold.  If they just call, assume they have medium suited cards or JQ off suit , something not too strong, but worth a call. And if they check to you on the flop and there are no other face cards, waste no time betting away. They just wanna stick around for a flush or str8 Smile

i absolutely hate jj never can win with them especially at absoulte poker. They feed out aces on the board like candy in a candystore. Like every 2/3 hands u have an ace on the board and there is someone that always has one. Except when i have one i get that 1/3 precentage when they never come out.

I agree with one of the first posts here.. Jacks stink.. People go all in on them.. But Ak, Aq and of course a higher pocket have them beat downright.. But in a last position they are worth a big raise for at least a blind steal.. and of course a last desperate all in on a low chip count.. But JJ and QQ are crap in early position.. well in my opinion.

As happens very often in poker, the answer as to how to play JJ varies depending on a number of factors.  Some but not all of these are:

- table position
- the relative size of your chip stack
- what has happend, if anything, before the betting gets to you
- what the other players at the table are like
- your tble image if you feel you've established one

As Arjonius said, the way you should play your Jacks varies with some factors beign:

- table position
- the relative size of your chip stack
- what has happend, if anything, before the betting gets to you
- what the other players at the table are like
- your tble image if you feel you've established one

With a good stack I always open to 4 or 5 times the BB, if someone calls its becouse he has a pair or something. Most people with QQ, AK, AQ or AJ will call you. But the people holding AA or KK will go all in. This is your time to go out.

Also check the board for any AKQ, thos cards can ruin your pocketed Jackies.

I always try to change the way I play and I slow play those jacks most of the time. If a jack cames in the flop, you lucky B...ard have a nice trips or better.

I never do well, it seems, with pocket jacks.  Always a higher face, usually at least its on the flop, so i can duck and run early.  Have tripped up maybe twice out of all the hands I have played with pocket jacks.

In No-Limit, that is my "All-In" hand, almost every time. If you just call a raise (or make a reasonable raise yourself) and go to the flop, you are bound to lose.  But putting other players All-In when you got Jacks is a winning play.

I fold jacks in early position and play them in late position and pray for some trips. You have to be able to lay that hand down

I agree I think you should go all in preflop with jacks. I stalled with them before and ended up losing to 2 pairs and to a higher pair another time
go all in and limit your competition. A person with a high card and low kicker might not be willing to go all in.
